• Attacking midfielder likely to sign on a season-long loan
• Di Canio also wants Alfred Duncan and Ibrahima Mbaye
Sunderland are close to securing the signature of the Brazilian Daniel Bessa on a season-long loan from Internazionale.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder appears to be heading for Wearside but Inter have so far declined Paolo Di Canio's bids to buy two more of their players, Alfred Duncan, the young Ghana midfielder dubbed "the new Michael Essien", and Ibrahima Mbaye, a Senegalese centre-half.
Sunderland hope to complete a deal for Vito Mannone, the Arsenal third-choice goalkeeper who would understudy Keiren Westwood. They also continue to pursue a £5m move for the Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone. Reported by guardian.co.uk 8 hours ago.
