This is Nottingham -- A dozen of the biggest superstars in wrestling, a legion of fans to match and one of the most electric atmospheres in entertainment. WWE was in town. An entertaining opening match between Heath Slater and R Truth passed quickly, though not as quickly as the second, over in a single move. Diva champion Kaitlyn then retained her title at the expense of challenger Tamina Snuka, setting the stage for one of the most memorable tag team matches ever staged in the city. Kane, partnering Daniel Bryan to form Team Hell No, found Dolph Ziggler and Big E. Langston ready to tear the Tag Team Championship from them. It was an excellent contest, before a chokeslam from the Giant left Ziggler prone on the canvas, Bryan then launched himself from the top rope, allowing a simple pin to keep their title intact. A technical encounter between Zac Ryder and Antonio Cesaro passed quickly, with all eyes on the main event, and John Cena's World Championship on the line. The challenger: Ryback. How to win? Throw your opponent through a table. An exchange every bit as muscular as expected followed, Ryback taking the upper hand. Surely the world title wasn't going to change hands in Nottingham?! It looked likely, Ryback using the ring steps to pummel Cena to the floor, only for Cena to counter, lifting the beast above his head and splitting the table in two. A birthday celebration for Cena followed, complete with cake, crowning off a fine evening for the crowd, a mix of families alongside fans who had grown up with WWE. Take a step back and cynics would find the announcer more Blackpool than Hollywood, some of the matches more Snatch than L.A. Confidential. Allow yourself to be drawn in by the spectacle, and you find entertainment of the very highest calibre. Roll on November, and WWE's return.
